Why CrossFit?

We are extremely excited to bring you the first affiliated CrossFit facility in Port Carling. For us, this is a dream come true and we cannot wait to meet all of you and help you achieve your goals. We are a married couple with different fitness backgrounds and have found something we do together that brings us so much joy. We hope to share our passion with as many people as possible. We found CrossFit by chance, and even when we started, we said we would never become ‘those CrossFit people’, but now we cannot imagine life without it.  

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is an effective way to get fit. Anyone is able to do it. It is a fitness program that combines a wide variety of functional movements into a timed or scored workout. We do pull-ups, squats, push-ups, running, rowing and a host of other movements.

Why do it? Here are my top reasons:

1. It makes fitness fun.

If working out became something you wanted to do, rather than something you had to do, wouldn’t you see greater results? The CrossFit community, combined with challenging workouts and camaraderie, makes it silly and addictive. We really want it to be the best hour of your day. 

2. Athletes are the healthiest people.

We treat everyone as an athlete, because everyone who walks in the door is. CrossFit creates a waterfall effect when you work out, you start to feel better, eat better, sleep better and creates a better standard of life all around.

3. Everything we do is functional.

The core movements mimic everything we do in everyday life. In CrossFit, we strive to do the common uncommonly well. For instance, deadlifting is the same as picking up grocery bags and squatting is simply sitting. Everything we do helps you move better in your regular day.

4. It is always different.

You never know what life is going to throw at you and it is the same at CrossFit Muskoka. Each day there is a different program and you never know what to expect. The beauty of this is our bodies are always adapting and changing. Even more exciting, every time you find a new skill in CrossFit, a new one is around the corner. We are always evolving and changing.

5. It has a fantastic community.

Pushing yourself to work hard by yourself is always more challenging than when you are with a group of friends. Here, everyone becomes your friend. CrossFit brings people together with the same goal of fitness in mind. Your workout buddies are the people you see almost every day and it creates a fantastic bond of like-minded people.

6. It is truly life changing.

I cannot tell you how many people have told me how this form of training is like nothing they have ever done and how it has truly impacted their life. Besides being in the best shape of their life, CrossFit does not stop at fitness, as it helps to build bonds between people.
